Your Mazda vehicle's windshield gets pelted on the daily by everything from weather to road debris. When that muck accumulates, it can get tougher to see the road, to say nothing of whatever else is around you. Luckily, the car or SUV you love has a good set of windshield wiper blades to clear it all away, snapped onto the end of each of its wiper arms. There's more to them than what they do, though. Here's all you need to know.

Wiper Blades 101

What Kinds There are

For most Mazda models, there are three: conventional, beam, and hybrid. Each uses one of three types of connectors, too: hooks, clamps, or pins.

Conventional Wiper Blades

These are the commonest, what most vehicles have. You see them on the road every day. They're made of either rubber or silicone over metal frames, and they provide fair durability in temperate weather and climates. You replace them biannually (every six months).

Beam Wiper Blades

These generally last longer than conventional blades. This is because they're made not of rubber and metal but of solid rubber. As such, they conform much more closely to a windshield's contours.

Hybrid Wiper Blades

These work a lot like beam blades. However, their metal frames are also rubber-coated, making them not only more versatile but also better able to resist bad weather's effects.

The Differences Between Connectors

Hook Connectors

These are U-shaped. They wrap around the rounded ends of the wiper arms, and they rotate around them.

Clamp Connectors

These are openings that the wiper arms get inserted into. They fasten on the sides, which is the way they keep the blades in place.

Pin Connectors

These are horizontal holes. The pins on wiper arms go through them. This is how the blades get held in place.

When to Replace Them

There are signs that'll tell you it's time. For one, the rubber will start cracking. Secondly, the blades will start to leave streaks while they run. Third, the blades will make squeaking or chattering noises as they move. Fourth, you'll start to see frame breakage. The blades may also start to detach eventually (usually because the adhesive has failed). At that point, you'll need to put new ones on.

How to Install New Ones

Since not all wiper blades are the same, that depends on what the instructions from your brand say. Be sure to follow them closely for specific details on what to do.

So, what kind does your Mazda model need, exactly? The answer's simple. Choose the genuine article.

Why Buy Genuine OEM vs. Aftermarket Wiper Blades?

Mazda designs and builds them compatible with your model specifically. That kind of fitment guarantee, aftermarket options may not always give you.

Where to Order Genuine Mazda Wiper Blades Online

You'll find these and many other popular Mazda parts in our catalog. Our prices are affordable, too. For example, the average cost of wiper blades can range from $10 or $15 or so to almost $50, sometimes more. That's excluding any applicable fees and taxes. It's also independent of labor costs, should you choose installation by a service professional (which can run around $50 total, including parts, and that's just to start). Our offerings, though? They're often priced well below MSRP. And with the process for changing them being so straightforward, you'll save plenty.

So, to start browsing quickly, select your model, along with its model year. Buy now, and we'll ship promptly, delivering to any personal or work address, and in no time. Most in-stock wiper blades ship in 24 hours, while those that are out of stock can ship in as few as 2-3 business days. Plus, overnight shipping is offered, should your order qualify. Of course, returning some or even canceling your order before it leaves our warehouse is no hassle, either; just get in touch with us. For full details on all this, consult our shipping, returns, and cancellations policies.

Feel free to get in touch with our parts team anytime, too, should you have a question or concern or need some buying advice. A specialist will be happy to help out.
